Summer Wash and Go Routine

It's summer time and that means a new hair care routine is in order! Natural hair requires work and lots and lots of patience. But with the right products a dedicated routine, it can be mastered. When I first went natural 2 years ago, I was definitely a product junkie, buying any and everything under the sun trying to make my curls "pop" lol.
It took some time for me to learn that not all video tutorials would produce the same results on my hair. I had to pay attention to what MY hair needed and focus on that. I also noticed that the needs of my hair changes with the weather, my diet, and my stress level.
So here are some of the tips I've learned along the way....
1. I try not to use shampoo too often. Even though I was sticking to the sulfate-free shampoo, it still seemed to dry my hair out a lot! I usually use a co-wash or just lots of conditioner. Right now my favorite co-wash is As I Am Coconut Cowash. It works really well to cleanse my hair without stripping the natural oils and causing dryness.
2. When it comes to conditioning my hair, I try to deep condition at least once a week or whenever my hair needs it. I'm not gonna lie, I use a different deep conditioner almost every wash day lol. In my stash right now are L'Oreal, Natural Club Fresh Avocado Deep Conditioner, and Belle Bar Organics which lets me customize my hair masks depending on what my hair needs.
3. For styling products, I've found that gels and custards work really well for my hair type. I only wear my hair in two styles at the moment so which ever styler works for my puff and TWA is what I use. Mielle Organics Pomegranate and Honey Curling Custard, Obia Naturals (which is on auto-ship with Amazon lol), and my new Holy Grail product Eco Style Gold. My ideal look for my curls is for them to be healthy, soft, and defined and these three products do just that for me.
Check out my quick Video from my Pinterest page on how I achieved this look and I also outlined the steps below!
Here are the steps for this look:

1. I wet my hair and put in the L'Oreal conditioner.
2. Detangle with conditioner in my hair for better slip and less shedding.
3. Instead of towel drying, I let it air dry with no product in it before styling. Sometimes, if I'm in a hurry, I'll speed up the process with my blow-dryer on the cool setting.
4. I added The Mane Choice Serum Oil Mist. I LOVE the way this product smells and leaves my hair moisturized.
5. I divided my hair into 4 sections and brushed through each section with my Denman brush before clipping it.
6. I used EcoStyle Gel Gold to shingle each section and create my curls!
This was my first time creating this look and I LOVE it!
